The HSE Dublin and North East health region will manage and deliver all public health and social care services in:

  • Cavan (excluding west Cavan)
  • Louth
  • Meath
  • Monaghan
  • North Dublin

More than one million people live in this region.

Hospital groups and Community Health Organisations

HSE Dublin and North East includes all hospital and community healthcare services in the region. This includes:

  • RCSI Hospital Group
  • Three hospitals from the Ireland East Hospital Group
  • Midlands Louth Meath Community Health Organisation
  • Community Healthcare Organisation Dublin North City and County

The Department of Population and Public Health, HSE Dublin and North East is also now aligned with this health region.

Regional Executive Officer (REO)

Sara Long is the REO of HSE Dublin and North East.

She has a lot of experience in leading service transformation and performance.

Sara previously held the roles of Chief Executive of the Education Authority in Northern Ireland, Director of Operations and Estates. She also has had management posts in acute and community care with the Western Health and Social Care Trust including as Director of Performance and Service Improvement.

Building the HSE Dublin and North East team

In 2024, each health region is transitioning from the previous hospital group and community healthcare organisation system. During the ongoing process we will continue to build each team, catering to the region's unique needs.
