To ask the Minister for Health the rationale behind the reduction in funding to an organisation (FASD Ireland in 2026; The constituent raises concerns regarding a significant reduction in funding to FASD Ireland, from approximately 200,000 per annum in recent years to 27,500 in 2026. They highlight that this level of funding is significantly below the estimated 500,000 required to deliver even a basic level of services to meet existing demand.The constituent notes that Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder is considered one of the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disabilities in Ireland, yet there are ongoing gaps in awareness, diagnosis pathways, and supports across public services. They express concern that the reduction in funding will further limit the capacity of FASD Ireland to provide essential services, raise awareness, and contribute to prevention efforts.They are seeking clarity on the reasoning behind the funding decision, whether the impact on service users was considered, and how the needs of individuals affected by FASD will be met going forward.); the process by which this funding decision was made; whether an assessment was carried out of the impact such reductions would have on service provision and supports for individuals with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
