Summary

To ask the Minister for Health to address matters concerning IBD care (Comprehensive care requires access to psychology, dietetics, and other allied health supports. However, access to a full multidisciplinary team remains extremely limited. In Crohn’s & Colitis Ireland’s recent survey, Uncovering the Hidden Costs of Crohn’s & Colitis, 71% of respondents reported that IBD has negatively impacted their overall quality of life, and 66% indicated that their mental health has been affected by their condition, if the Minister has any plans to expand access to multidisciplinary teams, or to allocate dedicated funding for psychologist and/or dietitian posts within gastroenterology departments) which extends beyond gastroenterologists and specialist nurses; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
