HSE Energy Policy - ISO 50001

Introduction

HSE recognizes the importance of energy management in delivering high-quality healthcare services to our patients while minimising our impact on the environment.

We are committed to reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable practices across all our activities to achieve our Climate Action Targets.

Achieving our Climate Action Targets

We will achieve these by:

  • Setting energy performance objectives and targets, regularly monitoring and reviewing our energy performance, and continually improving our energy efficiency. As part of our commitment to energy management, we have adopted the ISO50001 standard as the framework for our Energy Management System (EnMS).
  • Management will ensure the availability of the necessary information and resources to achieve these targets.
  • Complying with all applicable energy legislation, legal requirements, and other energy-related requirements.
  • Committing to continual improvement of energy performance and the EnMS. The objectives and targets set by the EnMS established are designed to ensure that the organisation moves towards improvement in efficient energy utilisation and reaches the public sector 50% energy efficiency target and 51% decarbonisation target by 2030.
  • Supporting the procurement of energy efficient products and services. This includes investing in energy-efficient technologies, equipment, and processes to reduce our energy consumption and related costs.
  • Designing for energy performance improvement, through our Energy Efficient Design policy.
  • Promoting sustainable practices in all our operations, including reducing waste, conserving resources, and promoting renewable energy sources.

Allignment with our mission

Our energy policy is aligned with our mission to provide excellent healthcare services while maintaining our commitment to social responsibility.
