MyHealth@EU
MyHealth@EU is an EU-wide service that helps patients share their health information safely with healthcare providers in other European countries.
It forms part of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). This is an EU initiative to make health data easier to access and use across Europe in a safe and consistent way.
In Ireland, the HSE is legally required to provide this service through Ireland's National Contact Point (NCP) for eHealth. This is a secure way of sharing health data between Ireland and other EU member states.
What MyHealth@EU does
The main purpose of MyHealth@EU is to make sure that essential medical information is available to healthcare workers when a patient is getting treatment in another EU country.
The health care record information can also be translated into the language of the country where the treatment is taking place.
Information that can be shared includes:
- a patient summary giving a quick overview of key health information
- ePrescriptions and eDispensation which make it possible to get medicine in other European countries
In the future, other health records will be able to be shared including:
- lab results
- hospital discharge reports
- X-rays, MRI scans, CAT scans and other medical images
- original clinical documents
We work with the Department of Health and its EU partners to develop and maintain these services.
Benefits of MyHealth@EU
