Vivienne Byrne Baruch Donates Artwork to Letterkenny University Hospital

Letterkenny University Hospital (LUH) was honoured to receive a generous donation from artist Vivienne Byrne Baruch on Friday, (October 10th, 2025), who has gifted one of her paintings to the hospital as a gesture of gratitude and appreciation.

The painting was given in appreciation for the excellent care provided by the Letterkenny Renal Unit and staff. The painting that is titled ‘Keep Dancing’ derived its name from Brian Friels play set in Donegal ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’ through interesting times, both good and bad, the woman danced on.

The painting now hangs at the start of the hallway that leads to the large conference room on the ground floor of LUH, where it can be enjoyed by patients, visitors and staff.

At the presentation, Mrs Byrne Baruch said, “I’m incredibly grateful for the care, compassion and professionalism I received during my time at Letterkenny University Hospital. I would like to thank the nurses, doctors, secretarial staff, catering and cleaning staff who look after the patients so well. This painting is a way of saying thank you to the staff and sharing a small piece of beauty with those who pass it in the hospital.”

Seán Murphy, Hospital Manager at Letterkenny University Hospital said, “We are truly honoured to receive this donation from Vivienne. Art can bring great comfort and joy to patients and staff and this beautiful piece will have a lasting impression on all who see it.”
