Visitor restrictions at St Luke’s General Hospital Carlow Kilkenny due to Norovirus outbreak


St Luke’s General Hospital, Carlow Kilkenny is now implementing visitor restrictions to reduce the spread of Norovirus.

Only one visitor per patient is permitted during visiting hours of 6pm to 8pm, unless otherwise authorised by the Ward Manager. Designated visitors will be required to wear a mask while in wards.

These measures are vital to avoid spreading Norovirus among the patients, visitors and staff and the hospital would like to thank the public for their co-operation and understanding at this time.

Noroviruses are very contagious and can spread easily from person to person, and is one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis (stomach bugs). You can find further information about Norovirus on https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/norovirus/
