New traffic and parking measures in place at Dungarvan Community Hospital

In the best interests of all its users, a one-way traffic management system and associated parking regulations have been introduced on the campus of Dungarvan Community Hospital.

Following a review of how best to prioritise safety and access, including for visitors and emergency services, signage is now in place to direct all ordinary, incoming traffic to the left at the roundabout, inside the main entrance to the campus.

Management of all HSE Dublin and South East facilities and services on site at Dungarvan Community Hospital have asked for the co-operation of all concerned to ensure the plan’s aim that main, internal routes within the hospital campus remain free of obstacle and that vehicles are not parked on roadways, pavements or on yellow lines.

One way system at Dungarvan Community Hospital:

This looped, one-way route will pass the main entrances to Dungarvan Community Hospital and Dungarvan Primary Care Centre (including GP surgery and HSE mental health day services), the car park at the rear of the hospital, the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Tusla premises, the Front Block/Community Care building (which also houses the University Hospital Waterford X-ray facility) and Ambulance Station.

Ordinary traffic may then exit at the roundabout near the campus’ main gate.

A pedestrian crossing on the Springmount Road links Dunabbey House to the pedestrian access to the main campus at the Dungarvan Primary Care Centre.

All users of Dungarvan Community Hospital campus, whilst driving there, are also asked to observe a speed limit of 15 kilometres per hour.

Parking at Dungarvan Community Hospital:

There remains no charge for parking on the Dungarvan Community Hospital campus and at the adjacent Dunabbey House.

In order to ensure implementation of the traffic management system, however, signage has been in place on campus over the last six weeks advising of the introduction of clamping. APCOA parking management company have been contracted for this purpose and began operation this week.

Set-down places will remain in place at the front entrance of the hospital and Primary Care Centre.

Staff Parking is available at the car park to the rear of the hospital, with overflow spaces available beside Springmount House (also at the rear of the hospital). A limited amount of staff parking is available adjacent to the Primary Care Centre.

Members of the public attending clinics in the Front Block/Community Care building will be assisted at the main reception to access the 2 hour free parking by entering their car reg to park in either a designated parking zone outside that premises or in Age Friendly spaces. Clinic Appointment letters will include these details.

No staff parking is permitted at Front Block/Community Care) building, as these are designated spaces for the public attending clinics and appointments there.

Vehicles in Disabled Spaces must display a valid parking permit.

Vehicles parked on roadways, pavements or on yellow lines may be clamped. Please note, management at Dungarvan Community Hospital, the Primary Centre or in other HSE facilities on campus do not have a remit as regards removal of clamps (this is solely the responsibility of the external, contracted company).

Thank you to everyone:

HSE Dublin and South East Management on campus in Dungarvan, in acknowledging that there will be a period of getting used to the new arrangements, hope its implementation will be as seamless as practicable and thank visitors and staff for their co-operation to date.
