Multi-cultural celebration at the HSE’s Enniscorthy Creative Activity Garden
Published: 16 June 2026
A season of outdoor events continues at the Creative Activity Garden, located on the grounds of St. John’s Community Hospital in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.
Most recently, the venue featured a multi-cultural celebration, with performances from staff of St. John’s Community Hospital and primary school children of Gaelscoil Inis Córthaidh.
Centred on an amphitheatre styled area, the Creative Activity Garden is a multi-functional space for gatherings and health and wellbeing activities in the heart of the HSE healthcare campus.
The attendance at the multi-cultural performance included residents and service users of the campus, staff, visitors and neighbours of the campus in Enniscorthy. Refreshments were provided by the catering team from St. John’s Community Hospital.
Speaking at the event, Chair of the St. John’s Healthy Campus group Mick Mahon said:
“This was a wonderful multi-cultural celebration, bringing together people of many different nationalities and cultures. The event highlighted the richness of diversity and demonstrated how traditions, values and ways of life can coexist, connect and enrich one another.”
“We enjoyed traditional Irish music from Gaelscoil Inis Corthaidh and a very special thank you to Geena John (Asst. Director of Nursing, St. John’s Community Hospital) who organised a fantastic programme that featured her colleagues on the hospital staff sharing a showcase of Indian classical songs and dances.”
“The programme also featured Irish dancing and ‘Bollywood’ and Nigerian ‘Afrobeat’ dance performances from talented staff of St. John’s. The atmosphere throughout the afternoon was one of inclusion, friendship and celebration, which residents and service users of the campus, staff, visitors and neighbours enjoyed.”
The Activity Garden project was supported as a placement incentive by Wexford County Council’s Culture and Creativity team and Age Friendly programme, in partnership with the HSE, Creative Ireland, the Irish Architectural Foundation and the Enniscorthy Men’s Shed. Opened in September of last year, the development was also made possible thanks to funding from the government’s Town and Village Renewal Scheme.
