Let’s Talk About Dementia and Brain Health

HSE South West and Boots Ireland invites the public to a free brain health and dementia awareness event in Tralee on Monday 10 June.

The information event will take place at Boots, Unit 12b, Central Plaza, Abbey Court, Tralee, on Monday, 10 June at 7pm and forms part of a nationwide series delivered in partnership with the HSE’s Dementia: Understand Together campaign. This is a free ticketed event and places can be reserved at https://dementiaroadshow.boots.ie

During the one‑hour workshop, healthcare professionals and people with lived experience of dementia will share insights on dementia, brain health, and the practical steps we can all take to support people living with dementia in our communities. Attendees will also learn about everyday actions that may help reduce personal risk and promote long‑term brain health.

The HSE Dementia: Understand Together has partnered with Boots since 2016, working to make stores and communities more dementia‑inclusive through staff training, awareness initiatives, and public events.

Dolores McElligott, Team Leader, Community Worker Older Persons said “We are grateful to Boots for organising these events for the local community, and to be invited to speak about these important topics. It shows their commitment to continuing the conversation around dementia and helping people to understand how to look after their brain health and reduce their personal risk of developing dementia. The Dementia: Understand Together partnership with Boots is a great example of how pharmacy and retail organisations can help to build dementia‑inclusive communities, and work alongside the many local community champions who are making a real difference to the lives of people with dementia in Ireland.”
