HSE South West stands up new structures to deliver integrated care

‍HSE South West this week moved one step closer to delivering on Sláintecare and fully integrate healthcare services across Cork and Kerry.

Exactly one year on from formally standing up HSE South West, local services are now managed by 14 teams in the three Healthcare Areas across Cork and Kerry. These Integrated Service Delivery (ISD) teams will deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time in the three Healthcare Areas of Cork South and West, Cork North and East, and Kerry.

Each ISD team is responsible for delivering all health and social care services within their community. This key milestone signals a shift to a population-based, geographic service delivery model and brings decision-making on services closer to the people they serve.

Regional Executive Officer HSE South West Dr Andy Phillips said:

“This is a very exciting time in which we will keep our services safe, improve the quality of care for our service users, and support staff through these changes. In the months ahead we will embed these new structures and establish new ways of working, to realise the full benefits of the reform for our patients and service users.”

Priscilla Lynch, IHA Manager for Cork South and West commented:

“We welcome this transition to integrated ways of working which will only improve the care and outcomes for people in the region. It is important to remember that while today marks an important milestone, it is just one step on our ongoing journey towards achieving key Sláintecare reforms.

“We have already made considerable progress, and this success is a direct result of the professionalism, effort and commitment demonstrated by HSE South West colleagues at every level. I want to thank everyone for their continued hard work and perseverance as we navigate this transformation.”
