HSE remembers Shyam Krishnan, Clinical Nurse Manager 2, Waterford Residential Care Centre

Marking a month that has passed since his passing in August, colleagues of Shyam Krishnan in the HSE Dublin and South East have been remembering him.


Marking a month that has passed since his passing in August, colleagues of Shyam Krishnan in the HSE Dublin and South East have been remembering him.

Mr. Krishnan was a Clinical Nurse Manager 2 and a valued member of the team at the Waterford Residential Care Centre.

Shyam Krishnan had served previously as an interim Person in Charge at Abbeygale House residential care centre at the Farnogue Community Nursing Unit in Wexford.

Shyam Krishnan was also an elected member of the executive council of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).

Waterford Residential Care Centre plan to hold a remembrance event shortly, inclusive of a tree to be planted in the green area adjacent to the Ferndale Unit to remember Shyam.

Speaking after a candle was lit this week, a month after Shyam’s passing in his memory, in the Tranquila Room of the Waterford Residential Care Centre, the HSE’s Manage of Older Persons Services/Community Nursing Units) for Waterford and Wexford Tanya Gorey said:

“Over the last month, our thoughts have been with Shyam’s beloved wife Vaishna and their young children Enya and Ethan. Our thoughts are also with Shyam’s parents, extended family, friends and the wider community during this difficult time.”

“Shyam Krishnan was an esteemed colleague and friend and it was with deep sadness that the management, staff and residents of Waterford Residential Care Centre received news of his untimely passing. Shyam, in his work as Clinical Nurse manager 2, did so with exceptional dedication, warmth and professionalism.”

“A longstanding advocate for his profession, Shyam made an enormous contribution to the Irish health service, including as a committed member of and representative for the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation.”

Barry Power (Director of Nursing, Waterford Residential Care Centre) added: “Those who knew and worked alongside Shyam will remember him for his kindness, compassion and unfailing respect for residents, families and colleagues. Shyam’s integrity and commitment to excellence have left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

“Shyam will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.”
