Cork University Hospital lifts visiting restrictions

Cork University Hospital has today lifted the visitor restrictions that were in place during the recent Norovirus outbreak.

Visiting is now permitted during visiting hours (2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm). Visiting remains restricted outside these times and in most cases, is not allowed outside of these two time slots. Visiting outside of allocated hours is only permitted for compassionate reasons and must be arranged in advance by ringing the specific ward.

CUH Chief Operations Officer Damian McGovern said:

“Cork University Hospital sincerely thanks people for their understanding and co-operation in helping us to contain the Norovirus outbreak in the hospital over the last number of weeks. This has been essential in helping us to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.”

Visitors are reminded not to visit if you are feeling unwell, or if anyone in your household has symptoms of infection, including gastrointestinal symptoms (such as vomiting or diarrhoea) or respiratory symptoms (such as cough, sore throat, or fever).

All visitors are reminded to adhere to good hand hygiene practices and to wear appropriate PPE, as advised by ward staff.
