Cllr Peter Horgan elected as Chair of Regional Health Forum South West

Councillor Peter Horgan, Cork City Council, was today elected as the new Chair of the Regional Health Forum South West.

His appointment was ratified at the annual general meeting of the Regional Health Forum South West, which was held today at Kerry Council Chambers at Rathass in Tralee.

Newly-elected Chair Cllr Peter Horgan said:

“I’m honoured to have received the support of elected members to take the Chair of the HSE South West Regional Health Forum. It has always been my view that ‘public health is public wealth’ and we must harness that.

“There are challenges and opportunities across the region and we must ensure that Cork and Kerry is to the fore in providing the public health we all want to see delivered on the ground.”

Cllr Horgan takes over the role of chair from Cllr Finbarr Harrington.

The Regional Health Forum South West comprises of members from Cork County Council, Kerry County Council and Cork City Council.

Established under the Health Act 2004, the Regional Health Forum comprises of representatives from the City and County Councils within the functional area of each Forum. The function of the RHF is “to make such representations to the Executive [of the HSE] as the forum considers appropriate on the range and provision of health and personal social services provided in its functional area.”
