The Haemovigilance Officer works at the highest level requiring specialised education, training, leadership, interpersonal and management skills to act as an advisor, consultant and educator on the transfusion of blood and related issues and in the provision of an effective Haemovigilance quality service in line with legislation and accreditation. Actively participating in internal and external quality control, quality assurance, audit and accreditation.
The Haemovigilance Officer will participate in the Louth Hospitals Haemovigilance team objectives.
Main objectives are
• Ensure the safety of the transfusion system
• Educate Clinical Staff on best transfusion practice
• Audit the transfusion practice throughout the hospital
• Review and establish guidelines and procedures
• Act as a resource for advice or information pertaining to transfusion
• Investigate and report SAE/SAR’S and non-conforming processes
