Day Service Assistant
L’Arche Kilkenny – Supporting Meaningful Lives
L’Arche Kilkenny is seeking a compassionate, motivated Day Service Assistant to join our community and support adults with intellectual disabilities to live full, self directed, and socially connected lives. This role is rooted in the principles of New Directions and L’Arche, focusing on person centred support, community inclusion, and active citizenship.
What You’ll Do
• Support Core Members to pursue their personal goals, interests, and life choices.
• Facilitate meaningful participation in community activities, clubs, volunteering, and social roles.
• Promote independence, rights, dignity, and self advocacy.
• Assist in delivering creative, skill building, and community based projects.
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
• Work collaboratively with the Day Service Coordinator, Project Leaders, and wider L’Arche community.
• Keep clear records and contribute to ongoing service development.
What You Bring
• Experience supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.
• A minimum qualification of FETAC Level 5 in Social Care (or equivalent).
• Knowledge of New Directions, HIQA standards, and rights based practice.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Confidence using basic computer programmes (Word, Excel).
• A commitment to inclusion, respect, and person centred support.

Additional Details
This role requires flexibility to support different projects, occasional participation in community events (such as the Christmas Fair), and a willingness to engage in continuous learning.
Note: only individuals currently resident and approved for work in Southern Ireland can be considered for this position.
• Be willing to take part in the community and embrace the model & ethos of L’Arche (www.larche.ie).
• Be person centered in approach and attitude.
• Have a good standard of oral and written English.
• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working with individuals with an intellectual disability - working with wheelchairs, and other assistive equipment would be an advantage.
• A full driving license desirable (but not essential).
• Garda Vetting for this position will apply.
