The post of CNM2 has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity relating to the PICC / OPAT service The main responsibilities are insertion of a Peripheral Inserted Central Catheter allowing central access for intravenous antibiotics for the management of acute infections, managing the Out-Patient Antimicrobial Therapy service for access to intravenous antibiotics in the home, quality assurance, resource management, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership.
