Nurse – SBHI Respite Breaks
As part of the SBHI respite programme, nurses provide essential clinical care and support to participants throughout respite weekend breaks. Nurses remain on site for the full duration of the weekend, with accommodation and all meals provided.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to participants throughout the respite break
Assess, monitor, and respond to participants’ ongoing nursing and healthcare needs
Provide clinical support including bowel management, intermittent catheterisation, and wound care management
Administer and dispense medications in accordance with prescriptions and established protocols
Supervise and assist with specialised feeding requirements where required
Maintain accurate daily records, care notes, and clinical documentation
Liaise and report to the Respite Coordinator regarding participant care and any relevant updates
Support, guide, and work collaboratively with volunteers on site
Uphold participant dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times
Communicate effectively with families, carers, and community services as appropriate
Undertake additional duties consistent with the role and needs of the respite programme
