The Louth Hospitals Group is comprised of two hospitals, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Louth County Hospital, Dundalk. These hospitals provide both acute and chronic care for the population of Louth and its surrounding hinterlands. Both of these hospitals serve the population of North County Dublin, Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan, its catchment population is difficult to quantify (Estimated at 700,000). However, from a clinical and administrative perspective both are managed centrally as a single hospital unit.
Our Lady of Lourdes is a grade IV, 485 bedded Acute General Hospital incorporating a Regional Trauma Orthopaedic Service, Obstetrics and Gynaecology services as well as the Louth Meath Maternity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a broad range of Paediatric services. The main Emergency Department for Louth Hospital Group is located at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. It is supported by an Acute Medical Assessment Unit and an Acute Surgical Assessment Unit in Our lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and a Minor Injuries Unit in Louth County Hospital Dundalk.
The ANP/ RANP in Emergency will be responsible for the provision of an Advanced Nurse led service within the Emergency Department (ED). The patient cohort will be extracted from the Minors stream of patients who fall within the ANP scope of practice.
This service is extended to RANP led service in the Minor Injuries Unit in Louth County Hospital. This service will provide care and treatment to adults and children (>5years) that present with non-life, non-limb threatening injuries.
A panel will be formed as a result of this campaign from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, County Louth
